Ideas to use ESL Battleship in class

Revision – Many English language course books often have a revision section at the end of the unit to recap vocabulary, grammar and other aspects covered in the unit. Often times these are either skipped or loathed by students. ESL Battleship can turn these boring revision activities into an exciting game.

Put students into groups and have them complete the exercise. When everyone is ready, the teams take turns answering the questions. If they are correct, allow them to choose one of the squares. If they hit an object award them points. If they don’t hit anything, continue to the next team.

Award points for a direct hit and award additional points for completing the destruction of one of the ships.
Points
Hit - 1 point
Destruction of a ship -  3 points.

Alternatively Award points for each type of boat.
To practice numbers – Use the battleship play board to practice numbers 1 – 100 with students.

Quizzes – Use the board to award points to teams. As in the revision activity award points for a hit or the destruction of a boat.
